ABSTRACTS
The Scientific Programme Committee (SPC) is pleased to invite members of VIIth ICHCA chapters and others to submit abstracts for presentation at the Congress. Abstracts must be submitted through the Congress website: www.ichca7.org
Deadline for the submission of late breaking abstract is 20 April, 2008. Abstracts received after the deadline will not be accepted.
Most presentations will be in POSTER format, although a small number of slots are available for presentation as 10-minute FREE COMMUNICATION LECTURES. If you would like your abstract to be considered as a free communications lecture, check the corresponding box on the abstract submission form. Instructions on the date and time of your presentation, and on the preparation of posters and free communications lectures, will be provided with the notification of acceptance of your abstract.
The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Secretarial. An individual may appear as first author on only one (1) abstract.
PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
Abstracts must be written in fluent English.
Uncommon abbreviations must be defined on first use. Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words.
In preparation of the abstract please adopt the following structured format:
• Abstract title (not more than 20 words)
• Author(s) and author affiliations
• Background and aims
• Methods
• Results
• Conclusions (avoid evasive statements like "the findings will be discussed")
SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
Abstracts must be submitted through the Congress website: www.ichca7.org
Upon submitting your abstract via the Congress website, you will receive an "Abstract Submission Receipt number" indicating that your abstract has successfully been submitted. Please do not submit multiple copies of the same abstract.
Images, tables, diagrams and graphs intended as part of the abstract must be saved and uploaded as BMP or JPG files. Other graphics file types cannot be accepted. Please note that these may be resized to fit in the final printed material. Use of such graphics will automatically reduce the number of words allowed.
Abstracts must be in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication.
Abstracts should NOT be sent by mail or fax. In cases of genuine difficulties with uploading on the congress website, please contact the Congress Secretariat: congress@topkon.com
ACCEPTANCE OF ABSTRACTS
The Scientific Programme Committee will review abstracts and information regarding acceptance, and scheduling will be sent to the corresponding author. Only abstracts of authors who have paid their registration fees by 15 January 2008 will be scheduled for presentation and included in the Book of Abstracts and CD. TECHNICAL INFORMATION
INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF POSTERS
Please note the following information regarding poster presentations:
• Posters may be prepared on a single large sheet (preferred method) or alternatively on several small sheets. Double-sided tape will be available for the hanging of posters
• It is recommended that your poster be 90 cm wide x 120 cm high (portrait style).
• Allocate the top of the poster for the title and authors names and affiliations as stated on the submitted abstract.
• The titles, illustrations, etc. should be sized so that they can be read from a distance of two meters.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PREPARATION OF ORAL PRESENTATIONS
A speakers' ready room, will be available for speakers throughout the day during the congress.
1. DATA PRESENTATION
If using a PowerPoint presentation, please note you need to bring it in an IBM / PC compatible format on a floppy disk (3.5 "/L.44 MB), on a CD, or on a "disk on key" ("flash memory", using the USB port in the computer; no ZIP disk). Audio and video files must be loaded on one of the congress' computers in the Speakers' Ready Room along with your PowerPoint file, at least 1 hour before the start of your session. Congress personnel will be available to help you. You may supply your own laptop computer as a back-up, but this is normally not necessary.
Please note that the congress computer in the session hall will run with Windows XP and Office 2000 (or beyond).
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MACINTOSH USERS
If using a Macintosh laptop computer, please note that you need to supply your own computer. Please confirm that it has a VGA socket for external signal and come to check it first in the Speakers' Ready Room as soon as you arrive and later on in the session hall where your lecture is taking place, either during the coffee or lunch break prior to your session, at least 30 minutes before the start of the session.
2. VIDEO
If you need to use a video for your presentation (VHS multi-system format only), please advise the Congress Secretariat, by e-mail or fax, no later than 3 weeks prior to the start of the Congress.
3. OVERHEAD PROJECTION (projection of transparencies)
If you wish to use transparencies, please advise the Congress Secretariat, by e-mail or fax, no later than 3 weeks prior to the start of the Congress.
